In this edition of Marketer of the Week, Ignite Visibility spotlights Grace Windheim, Associate Product Marketing Manager at Kapwing, a creative software company based in San Francisco, California.

Only a few years out of college, Grace Windheim is already making a name for herself in the world of content marketing and creation.
Born and raised in Hong Kong and Singapore, Windheim now calls the San Francisco Bay Area home. A 2016 graduate of the prestigious United World College of South East Asia, Windheim continued her studies at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health.
While a student at Johns Hopkins, Windheim was one of only twenty recipients of the Hodson Scholarship. This $34,000 a year merit-based scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate strong abilities in the areas of academia, personal achievement, and leadership. She was also a member of Delta Omega National Public Health Honor Society.
Windheim’s Work While Attending Johns Hopkins
In addition to obtaining a 3.96 GPA while an undergraduate student at Johns Hopkins University, Windheim also held various positions in the healthcare and marketing industries.
Her long line of impressive internships includes time spent at Boston Children’s Hospital as a Neuroplasticity Research Intern, at Ruffalo Noel Levitz as an Alumni Relations Fundraiser, a Resident Assistant at the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, and as a Research Assistant at the Johns Hopkins Center for a Liveable Future.
In 2018, she also interned at Shepherd’s Clinic in Baltimore, Maryland as a Community Impact Intern and at Blue Jay’s Perch Community Garden as Marketing and Communications Intern.
One of Windheim’s passions is finding connections between seemingly unrelated topics on her quest to solve complex problems. The various positions she has held helped her to refine her marketing and communications skills while engaging her interests in marketing, graphic design, health and wellness, and computer science.
Every internship and part-time position helped to create the exceptional marketer and manager she is today.
Windheim’s Introduction to Kapwing
During her senior year at Johns Hopkins, Windheim accepted a three-month internship at a communications start-up, Kapwing, in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Kapwing is a start-up that is changing the digital media landscape. Created by and for millennials, they create the infrastructure for collaborative video creation. With their tools, media companies are able to easily scale their content production.
As the Growth Marketing Intern, Windheim pioneered growth efforts and improved customer acquisition through SEO content creation, social media engagement, email marketing, community management and engagement, and press events.
During her initial short stint at Kapwing, Windheim produced 51 videos for the company’s YouTube channel and wrote seven articles for their blog.
Thanks to her content creation strategy and excellent ability to create content that resonated with their preferred audience, the company saw a 150% increase in YouTube subscribers and a 125% increase in video views in just three months.
Tying Together Windheim’s Love of the Outdoors with Her Passion for Social Justice Issues\
Following her summer internship in the Bay Area, Windheim went back to the East Coast to finish her Bachelor’s degree.
She found her way into working with underprivileged youth in Baltimore as the Founder and Co-President of Hop Outside is a student service group that works with the Baltimore Chapter of The Sierra Club.
During her time with Hop Outside, she managed a team of 30 volunteers, directed marketing efforts, and facilitated post-trip reflection discussions on social justice issues while leading monthly outdoor drips for Baltimore City’s underprivileged youth at no cost to them.
When she was not organizing trips for Hop Outside or dedicating herself to fundraising for the trips, Windheim was working as a Lead Instructor and the Director of Finance of Outdoor Pursuits with Johns Hopkins University.
This organization led groups of Johns Hopkins students and faculty on outdoors trips, including canoeing, backpacking, paddleboarding, and camping around the Maryland area during the academic school year.
As the Director of Finance, Windheim also maintained the club’s financial records and managed the budget of the organization.
Windheim Returns to Kapwing
Upon her graduation from Johns Hopkins University in May of 2020, Windheim returned to the West Coast to continue her work with Kapwing.
Originally working as a full-time Content Creator, she quickly rose the ranks to become a Content Strategist, a Senior Content Strategist, and a Brand Manager within a few short months. She also became certified in Content Marketing, Email Marketing, and Growth-Driven Design by HubSpot Academy.
By January of 2022, Windheim’s career growth had exploded and, thanks to her hard work and undeniable skill, she was promoted to the Associate Product Marketing Manager at Kapwing.
The company, which launched in October 2017, now has more than 100,000 YouTube subscribers. Many people at the company contribute their great success to Windheim’s ability to connect with their audience while building a safe and inclusive space for users to produce their content.

In short, Windheim is exactly what the digital space needs.
She is young, passionate, and full of ideas that will change this space for the better. I applaud Windheim’s ability to marry her many different interests in a way that makes a positive difference in all of the related spaces.
