Twitter has just introduced the ability to make custom timelines today. This new feature will help users control and organize tweets that appear in a steam. Users will be able to create their own timelines around particular events, filled with tweets from particular users and topics.
Each Twitter timeline is public and has its own page on Twitter.com, making it easy to share so others can follow along in real time as you add more Tweets.
What you can do with Custom Timelines
Share the best Tweets about a topic you care about, or an event that’s happening right now, whether it’s planned or unplanned. Whether you want to collect the best Tweets about a movie or help people find the latest information about fast-moving real-time situations, custom timelines let you give everyone a place to follow along.
How to Get a Timeline
To get started, you’ll need Tweetdeck, in order to make the custom timelines. Tweetdeck is rolling out the custom timelines to all its users over the next several days. Developers can also make one by using the Twitter API. Read more about this on the TweetDeck blog.
POLITICO is using the new API to organize tweets from policy industry experts in this new Tweet Hub.
