Many people talk about the importance of multimedia. However, it just may be more important than ever at this point in the Internets evolution. Video allows you to get more exposure for your company online. Not only can you get your videos ranked in the normal Google search, but you can also get them ranked for keywords in YouTube.

Getting videos ranked in normal Google search allows you to gain more search space and increase views to your videos. This process is fairly straightforward. Simply engage in normal search engine optimization practices with one additional element, you must create a video sitemap. Furthermore, there are various was to add video to your website. You can create a custom player, make the file downloadable or simply embed a video. Depending on the method you choose there may be implications.

Getting Videos Ranked in YouTube Search

You must be very deliberate in your YouTube video optimization if you hope to get ranked. This includes making sure your titles, description and tags are all well themed. Other ranking factors include number or views, embeds, comments, links and shares. You can increase these through organic promotion or by allocating a small YouTube advertising budget.

By adding multimedia to your website you will increase your rankings and traffic. And by optimizing videos for Google and YouTube you will get more views. But that doesn’t address why it is so important to social. Up until now social has been very focused on text and photo updates. But users really eased into this. First they did a basic text update and then they finally worked up the courage to do a photo update. As users become more comfortable putting their lives online it will eventually lead to more user video.

How Does Video Relate to Business Social Media

As users become more at ease with video they will undoubtedly look to business for the same thing. The days are gone when face to face meetings are the norm. More purchases and services are being requested online everyday. Users want to see business owners online. They want to see products in videos and they want to interact with those videos through social media sharing and even video responses. For those of you who don’t know, you can leave a video response to any video on YouTube.

Summary

Users will be posting more video and businesses need to be as well. Not only does it grow the size of your online presence, it also allows you to put a face on your business and show who you really are. As people’s lives move more towards the internet, it is important your business does the same.
